Assistance for Women with Gynecological Disorders and Women Undergoing Emergency CS
Republic Act No. 10354, also known as the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012, states in Section 12 that “all serious and life-threatening reproductive health conditions such as HIV and AIDS, breast and reproductive tract cancers, obstetric compilations, and menopausal and postmenopausal-related conditions shall be given the maximum benefits, including the provision of antiretroviral medicines (ARVs), as provided in the guidelines set by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC).”
As per the United Nations, 11 Filipino mothers die every day due to pregnancy or childbirth, resulting in more than half a million deaths each year due to childbirth complications. With this, the Gender and Development Office organized this event to provide financial assistance for women suffering from gynecological disorders and in need of an emergency cesarean section.
There were 25 women who benefited from this financial aid. The selection of the qualified beneficiaries went through the processes required by the Assistance in Crisis Situations of the CSWD, also known as AICS. Moreover, this has been implemented to further the cause of women’s health and rights.
